Trump calls off federal ‘surge’ to San Francisco

After repeatedly threatening to send the National Guard to San Francisco President Donald Trump explained Thursday that he has called off plans for a surge to fight crime in the city The Federal Regime was preparing to surge San Francisco California on Saturday but friends of mine who live in the area called last night to ask me not to go forward with the surge in that the Mayor Daniel Lurie was making substantial progress Trump reported in a Truth Social post I spoke to Mayor Lurie last night and he appealed very nicely that I give him a chance to see if he can turn it around In a report this morning Lurie revealed Trump agreed to halt a federal deployment in a phone conversation on Wednesday night In that conversation the president stated me clearly that he was calling off any plans for a federal deployment in San Francisco Lurie noted Secretary of Homeland Safety Kristi Noem reaffirmed that direction in our conversation this morning Trump stated that Lurie solicited very nicely to allow the city to continue its efforts to fight crime without federal help The president explained he thought Lurie was making a mistake but appeared to credit the city for coming together on fighting Crime Crime rates in the city as well as majority of of the Bay Area have been on the decline after spikes during the COVID- pandemic In the Truth Social post Trump also credited tech leaders including Nvidia co-founder Jensen Huang and Salesforce CEO Marc Benioff for his decision They want to give it a shot ' Trump announced Therefore we will not surge San Francisco on Saturday Stay tuned
